In November of 2009 I had somehow gotten it into my head to record a kid's music CD for BAD kids, including gems like 'Eat Rocks' and 'Play With Broken Glass'. This song is so far the only thing that got finished, but it's at least worthy. Another Devo sounding robo groove, this song came into being fairly quickly but was not really fleshed out till early 2010. By the time I showed it off to the band in the form of a synth demo, it was pretty complete.
Naturally I wasn't happy with all those synthesizers, and Ed set about dressing it up with some great 80's sounding guitars, using The Cure, Flock of Seagulls, and The Fixx as role models. A couple months later, he came up with additional harmony and background guitar parts that make for really interesting headphone listening. The bass guitar was a bit more difficult; Jim never did get the exact groove I was vying for, and I ended up using the technique of cutting apart every note in the bass track and arranging them by hand. Tiffany added the icing to this musical cake by singing the bridge, replacing my part. And voila!
The onstage video parts to this song were animated from a cool book called 'How To Be a Supervillain'... inspiration for sure!
lyrics
Evil is fun Evil is fun
It's even more fun when you realize what you've done
Evil is fun Evil is fun
Evil is fun better light the fuse and run
Evil is fun Evil is fun
Evil is fun until you kill everyone
Evil is fun Evil is fun
Evil is fun till you realize what you've done
Your parents probably told you
To be good girls and boys
But you couldn't help but notice
That bad guys had superior toys
Villains all get better vacations
So check out my advice
Heroes have no imagination
It's so boring being nice
But...
Evil is fun Evil is fun
It's even more fun when you realize what you've done
Evil is fun Evil is fun
You're doing it wrong if you're not injuring someone
Evil is fun Evil is fun
Evil is fun until you kill everyone
Evil is fun Evil is fun
Evil is fun till you realize what you've done
Once you know you're evil
Time to have some fun
Time to show off your giant robot
Watch the tiny humans run
Wreck a national monument or
Blow apart the moon
Duct tape a little old lady
To an unmanned hot air balloon cause
Evil is fun Evil is fun
It's even more fun when you realize what you've done
Evil is fun Evil is fun
Evil is fun better light the fuse and run
Evil is fun Evil is fun
Evil is fun until you kill everyone
Evil is fun Evil is fun
Evil is fun till you realize what you've done
Why did we liquidate Paris?
Why did we turn your hair green?
Was it all some dastardly doing
Or merely because we're mean?
Yeah

These guys ROCK... and they have an awesome spaceship! This may be because we have not yet stolen the aforementioned spaceship, but of course that still doesn't change the fact that they ROCK. Consortium of Genius
